About the South Burnett
The South Burnett is located about two hours drive north-west of Brisbane and immediately west of the Sunshine Coast. It stretches 120km from Blackbutt in the south to Kilkivan in the north, and 70km west to Lake Boondooma.

The region has traditionally been the heart of Australia's peanut and navy bean industries but since the early 1990s the South Burnett has also quickly become Queensland's largest wine region, home to dozens of cellar doors and vineyards.

The region's web portal was established by South Burnett councils in 2000. You can get live daily news, the region's daily events calendar, weather forecasts, classifieds - even the local movie guide! Also contains maps and extensive databases covering every aspect of the region.

Local Government Sites
The South Burnett consists of the Shires of Kilkivan, Kingaroy, Murgon, Nanango, Rosalie and Wondai and the Cherbourg Community Council. Every 6 weeks delegates from each of these Councils meet at the South Burnett Local Government Association (SBLGA) where they discuss regional issues. Two other organisations that operate in the region are the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO) and the Wide Bay Burnett Area Consultative Committee (WBBACC):
